Different types of surfaces are used for outdoor tennis courts, depending on their intended use: for sports training, amateur players, children, or tournaments. Poured courts, made of polyurethane or acrylic, are a popular choice. These surfaces create a seamless monolithic finish by pouring a composite mixture onto the court base. The difference between them lies in the type of mastics used: polyurethane is more elastic and gentle, while acrylic is used for "hard" courts for players who prefer fast-paced tennis. Acrylic coatings are typically 2-3 mm thick, with a rubber layer added to enhance cushioning. Poured surfaces are weather-resistant, durable, non-slip, and can even be used for ice rinks in winter.

Construction and Benefits of Poured Sports Surfaces

A typical cushioned surface is constructed as follows

The base layer consists of synthetic resin combined with inert, durable plasticizers and various additives. A water-diluted mixture is applied to concrete or asphalt using a trowel, depending on the base’s irregularities and damages. The recommended working temperature is not less than 10°C.

The next layer provides elasticity to the sports surface, enhancing comfort and reducing muscle and ligament strain for athletes. It is composed of acrylic-modified resin and additives with a high content of rubber particles, characterized by a unique granular shape. The mixture is diluted with water to a convenient consistency for application and dries quickly depending on the ambient temperature.

The base and finish layers consist of acrylic resin with durable, inert binders, providing good resistance to atmospheric and mechanical stress. Thanks to the molecular structure of the coating, the natural movement of the asphalt base during temperature changes is absorbed, protecting the court from cracks and shifts.

The installation of poured surfaces requires specific weather conditions. Once installed, the court requires minimal maintenance.

High-Comfort, High-Safety Sports Surface

COURTSOL COMFORT SYSTEM

A four-layered surface with an integrated 4mm shock-absorbing mat made of pressed rubber crumb. Designed for new tennis courts, multi-functional sports courts, and the renovation of old concrete and asphalt surfaces. The surface provides a high level of comfort and safety for athletes.

The structure of Courtsol Comfort

Rubber Carpet. Rubber mats, ranging from 4 to 10 mm thick, are specially selected for use in the Courtsol COMFORT systems.

Resibase BP. A coating made from acrylic resin and coarse-grained fillers, designed for filling new surfaces and smoothing out highly uneven surfaces. When mixed with cement, it can also remove substantial thicknesses.

Resibase. A flexible synthetic coating, solution-dyed and based on acrylic resin with medium-sized fillers. It is employed as an intermediate layer within Courtsol’s multi-layer systems.

Resitop. A synthetic finish made from acrylic resin and fine-grain fillers. It delivers a smooth surface for precise ball rebound and enhanced anti-skid properties. This finish is used in ITF 3 systems.

Lines. A line marking paint with high coverage, formulated for one-coat application. Available in white and a range of approved colors, suitable for marking lines in all types of sports.
